R&B idol Rihanna has confirmed that after nearly four years apart, she and rapper Chris Brown are officially back together again. Rumors have been circling of late, but five time Grammy winning Rihanna, who has sold more than twenty-five million albums worldwide and is currently promoting her seventh studio album Unapologetic, has denied the claims until now. With such a violent history between the pair, one has to wonder if this re-kindled relationship will be a healthy one.
Brown was arrested after a pre-Grammy party that he attended with Rihanna. Pictures of a battered Rihanna surfaced on the internet soon afterwards. Brown pled guilty and received a sentence of community service, which he completed, and probation, which he is still on. After the incident, Rihanna sat down and gave an interview with Diane Sawyer on 20/20 and bravely gave details of that ill-fated night. Now, almost exactly four years later, Rihanna admits in a Rolling Stone interview that she and Brown are indeed back together “even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake”.
Clearly Rihanna believes that this will not be a mistake, stating “We know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that.” She believes that Brown has changed and has even “paid his dues”. But this article comes in the midst of reports that Chris Brown allegedly assaulted upcoming singer-songwriter Frank Ocean several days ago. With incidents like this emerging, one has to wonder if Chris Brown has really learned his lesson or will he and Rihanna end in violence yet again?
