Adam Lambert has signed on to tour extensively with legendary rock band Queen this year, but that doesn’t mean he’s put his solo career on pause. The pop singer has released two solo albums after rising to fame through American Idol, but parted ways with his major label over creative differences. Fans looking for news regarding his third solo record were instead treated to the news of the 2014 Queen tour. But Lambert insists that one doesn’t preclude the other.
“I’m currently working on music for my next album and will soon begin rehearsals for the Queen Tour,” Adam Lambert announced via Twitter. While he didn’t provide a specific timetable regarding the release of his third album, this should put to rest any notion that his solo career is on the outs. Lambert has previously performed with Queen, but mostly for major festival dates as opposed to this year’s full tour. Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991. The band has performed sparingly since, using vocalists like Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Lambert.
Adam Lambert released his debut solo album For Your Entertainment in 2009, and followed it up with Trespassing in 2012. His biggest radio hit to date is Whataya Want From Me.
