Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban came out in public support of NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s decision to ban Los Angeles Clippers owner for life and to force him to sell the team. “I agree 100% with Commissioner Silvers findings and the actions taken against Donald Sterling,” Cuban tweeted just moments after Silver made the announcement in an early afternoon press conference today.
Mark Cuban had earlier appeared to be hedging on the issue. While he condemned Sterling’s racist remarks, he initially declined to acknowledge the issue during the Mavericks game over the weekend. Yesterday he suggested that any attempt to force Sterling out could be a “slippery slope” with regard to commissioner discipline toward owners in the future. But Cuban quickly placed himself in line with Silver today.
Cuban bought the Mavericks after becoming a billionaire in the turn of the century internet boom, and also appears on the television show Shark Tank. It’s safe to say Donald Sterling won’t be appearing on the show any time soon.
