JK Rowling shakes up Harry Potter world: James Potter Book 8 next?

JK Rowling Releases New Harry Potter Short Story! Potter-heads rejoice! For those looking for a little something magical and extra in their bowls this morning, not only is the new Diagon Alley and “Escape from Gringotts” ride at Universal Studios Orlando turning heads (and causing six hour waits for one attraction), but JK Rowling has also released a brand-new, never before seen short story about “The Boy Who Lived” on the Harry Potter site for fiends of the novels and movies, Pottermore.com. Now comes the question of whether this is just a one-off, or if Rowling is laying the ground work for a Harry Potter Book 8 – or even a new book series surrounding Harry’s son James Potter.

As to be expected, traffic to the site has been very heavy since word of the new fiction involving Harry Potter broke, so many people have been left wanting (wanting a turn into the site), but it would appear the short story involves a 30-something year old Harry Potter and pals (written by everyone’s favorite Prophet reporter Rita Skeeter), with “graying hair” no less, attending the Quidditch World Cup, most likely to tie into the mania that’s engulfed the world right now with the FIFA World Cup everyone is currently enamored with. Sounds like a perfectly ingenius time to release this little ditty to me!

So, if you’re like the billions of others in the world, clamoring for more about the world’s most famous wizard, grab a butterbeer and head on over to Pottermore (registration will be required) to grab your place in line and fill in another blank in the lore you have memorized about Harry Potter and his friends. You know you’ve been waiting for years to something else to drop, so what are you waiting for?
