NASCAR heads west today for the Camping World 500 race on the Sprint Cup schedule which sees a tight leaderboard heading into today’s contest. Kevin Harvick is atop the leaderboard as he attempts to defend his 2014 Chase for the Cup championship. But the 2015 NASCAR season is still just a few races old, and he has some stiff competition. Today’s race has an afternoon start time and airs on a national TV channel as well as a live stream online option.

Harvick has a nine point lead over Dale Earnhardt Jr in second place, pitting the two drivers against each other; Harvick once took over the car of Junior’s deceased father, and now the two young men have each evolved into elite drivers on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit. Joey Logano is in third place, eleven points back, while Martin Truex is sixteen points back in fourth place. AJ Allmendinger, who squeaked into the Chase with a late win last season, is in fifth place. Jimmie Johnson, who is looking to mount a comeback, is in 7th place. Jeff Gordon, who is retiring at the end of the 2015 season, is in 30th place heading into today’s NASCAR race.

The NASCAR race today has a start time schedule of 3:00pm EST, noon PST, and airs on TV channel FOX. The race is also airing as a live stream online.
