Rob Zombie walks off stage at Rock Fest after two songs

Rob Zombie walked off the stage tonight after performing just two songs at tonight’s Rock Fest in Wisconsin. Various attendees at the festival immediately took to social media to express their surprise and disappointment. Fans in attendance are stating that he was on stage for less than ten minutes before exiting.

One Rock Fest attendee, Lance Knorr, tweeted that Rob Zombie walked off stage “saying he sounds like shit (wasn’t bad).” Another fan in attendance, @mdarlrr, said that Zombie “abruptly announced he could not talk and no way could he do the show.” Knorr stated that as of thirty minutes later, Zombie still hadn’t returned.

Rob Zombie, real name Robert Cummings, rose to prominence in the 1980s as the frontman for the rock group White Zombie with hit songs like More Human Than Human and Thunderkiss 65, before going solo with albums like Hellbilly Deluxe. He’s also developed a second career as a film producer. Zombie was set to be the closer for this year’s four day long Rock Fest in Cadott, which has been running since Thursday. Aerosmith, The Pretty Reckless, and Stone Sour performed at the festival earlier in the weekend.

Zombie performed live each of the past two nights, in Iowa on Friday and in Illinois on Saturday, perhaps putting too much strain on his vocal cords. If his voice is indeed as shot as he claims, the good news is he’ll have plenty of time to recover before his next scheduled gig in September. He has been working on a new solo album this year, but has yet to reveal the details behind it. We suspect that work will now have to wait a bit. As of yet, neither Rob Zombie nor his people have made any official statement regarding the matter. It’s not immediately clear whether those who bought tickets for Rock Fest will be compensated due to the near-absence of one of its scheduled headliners.
