MTV VMA Video Music Awards tonight: TV channel, time, Miley Cyrus host
The MTV VMA Awards take place tonight, with the annual Video Music Awards offering an opportunity for fans to watch a music awards show that’s strikingly different from the more traditional awards shows in the same genre. It’s also a rare opportunity to hear music on MTV, which was one an all-music-video station but has since shifted to reality programming. The host tonight is Miley Cyrus, who can’t seem to stay out of the headlines. Tonight’s VMAs have a primetime start time and air on a national TV channel.
MTV has benefitted from the recent publicity surrounding Miley Cyrus, the former Hannah Montana star who has since taken her pop music career in a startlingly different direction, and this week labeled herself a pansexual which drew even more headlines for the singer than usual.
Tonight’s MTV VMA Video Music Awards have a start time of 8pm eastern time live, and are airing on the west coast at 8pm pacific time on a tape delay. The VMAs are airing on TV channel MTV if you haven’t guessed as much already, with the popular TV show Catfish serving as a one-hour lead in beforehand. The VMA Awards are known for their stunts, pranks and spectacles.
