Alabama opened its 2014 college football schedule today with a game against West Virginia, a tale of two teams headed in ostensibly opposite directions. The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked number two in the nation - and that’s considered a disappointment by its standards - after losing a legendary game to Auburn which sunk its season last year. The WVU Mountaineers went 4-8 last season and are looking to rebound. Today’s game had a surprisingly close final score.
Home field advantage for tonight’s game went to University of Alabama, which hosted today’s game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. But it was West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett who shone the most brightly, throwing for more than three hundred yards and a touchdown score, overshadowing the debut of Alabama QB Blake Sims.
But in the end the Alabama Crimson Tide was the winner over West Virginia by a final score of 33-23.
