Jacksonville Jaguars first round draft pick: replace Blaine Gabbert

The Jacksonville Jaguars head into tonight’s NFL Draft 2014 in desperate need of a franchise quarterback, and an overall roster so weak that a franchise quarterback might not be able to help them out much. So the dilemma with their first round pick, number three overall, is whether to take a QB and hope for the best, or whether to put their focus toward building a competent offense and defense this year and look toward 2015 for finding their quarterback of the future. But with draft bust Blaine Gabbert gone, can the team stand another year with Chad Henne under center?

One thing is almost certain: the Jaguars will have at least one of the 2014 NFL Draft’s top quarterback prospects, Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles, fall to them at number three. Even if Houston takes one at #1, the Rams aren’t likely to take the other at #2 unless that pick is traded. But can either quarterback be expected to do much with Jacksonville’s anemic roster in 2014? Would the number one pick be expected to start immediately, or would be be brought along slowly while journeyman Henne keeps the seat warm?

Who will the Jacksonville Jaguars first round pick be in tonight’s NFL Draft 2014? Tune in here.
