NCIS Season 12 spoilers, Cote de Pablo - Ziva David return

NCIS used the midpoint of Season 12 to finally wrap up the storyline of its second most notorious recurring villain, Sergei Mishnev, who met a predictable and fitting fate – but not before teasing the fact that he may have been the half brother of the show’s most infamous villain of all, Ari Haswari – and in the process teased the possible return of Ziva David.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, at least not this week. But there mere passing reference to Ziva is enough to get NCIS fans hoping it’ll bring the show one step closer to bringing her back for a guest spot, and particularly with this being sweeps month, for a moment it looked like it might actually happen. Throw in the juicy fact that Sergei may have been the half brother of Ari, who in turn was the half brother of Ziva, and suddenly it all felt like a big tease – almost an irrelevant detail by the time it was introduced a few minutes before [spoiler aliert] Sergei died at the hands of Agent Fornell.

While NCIS has spent the past year trying to establish Ellie Bishop as a replacement for Ziva David, it hasn’t shied away from mentioning Ziva in passing from time to time, keeping fans on their toes. But realistically, they shouldn’t expect to see Cote de Pablo return to the show until its final season, if only to get married off to Tony DiNozzo.

      I agree. I hope that Cote De Pablo does return. I am glad that they mentioned her the other night.

    She really should come back! She was excellent with the team! Loved her and Weatherlys chemistry!

    The Bishop experiment failed big time. Ziva needs to come back and kick her cute incapable butt back to NSA!

    What a huge mistake it was to get rid of Ziva. Cote played her character phenomenally! She was so realistic in the role and the combination of her with the rest of the cast was superb. Get your act together powers-to-be and bring her back as soon as possible!
