Carly Rae Jepsen SNL musical guest: Call Me Maybe singer returns

Carly Rae Jepsen is the musical guest on an all-new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight. If that name sounds familiar, it’s for good reason – she has one of the biggest hit songs on the decade. She’s the one behind Call Me Maybe, the catchy love-it-or-hate-it tune from three years ago which was unavoidable for quite some time. Now she’s back, and here’s what you need to know ahead of her SNL stint tonight:

– Before she hit it big in the United States with Call Me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen was already a notable musician in her native Canada. In fact she was a contestant on Canadian Idol, finishing in third place.

– Carly Rae Jepsen was imported to the United States by Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez after they heard her song on the radio while visiting Canada. They liked what they heard, and they got Justin’s record label to sign her.

– Her new song, which she’ll be performing tonight, is titled I Really Like You. It’s best known for the music video in which Tom Hanks inexplicably spends the entire song lip syncing along to the words. With his connections to SNK, will he appear on tonight’s episode? Stay tuned.
