LeSean McCoy and Nick Foles move on from Philadelphia Eagles in 2015
Those NFL fans tuning in for tonight’s Monday Night Football opener who don’t closely follow pro football news may be wondering what happened to Philadelphia Eagles stars Nick Foles and LeSean McCoy. It turns out both were jettisoned in the offseason by head coach Chip Kelly, who fully remade the team’s offense at its biggest positions in the hopes of spurring the team into the playoffs. But what happened to Foles and Shady McCoy?
It turns out Nick Foles has been traded to the St Louis Rams, where he immediately became the starting quarterback. He led the Rams to an upset victory yesterday over the favored Seattle Seahawks, and now looks to lead his new team to the playoffs. He’s been replaced by former Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, who will now try to stay healthy in Philadelphia.
LeSean McCoy was sent to the Buffalo Bills in the offseason, and was later replaced by marquee free agent DeMarco Murray, who comes over from the division rival Dallas Cowboys. McCoy helped lead the Bills to an upset victory of their own yesterday, over the Indianapolis Colts. Now it remains to be seen tonight whether the moves have made the Philadelphia Eagles offense better, worse, or roughly the same.
