Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions look for rebound after early schedule woes

Even as the Seattle Seahawks and the Detroit Lions prepare to face each other in a Week 4 game, both NFC playoff teams from 2014 are off to surprisingly struggling starts in the early days of the 2015 schedule. The Seahawks are coming off consecutive Super Bowl appearances but are now sitting with a 1-2 record, though good news may be on the way. The Lions are 0-3 and may not recover if they lose this game as well. So who has the edge?

That may depend on which team is more desperate as they prepare to face off. The Seattle Seahawks started off 0-2 but then found the cure for what ailed them when they blew out a hapless Bears team in Week 3. But while beating Chicago may not count for much in 2015, the Seahawks are getting Kam Chancellor back from what had been a contract holdout. How much of their poor start was due to his absence, and how much can he cure simply by being on the field? Russell Wilson finally looked like himself last week, and he’ll need to do it again.

Meanwhile the Detroit Lions are winless so far in the 2015 season, a shocker after having made the playoffs last season under new coach Jim Caldwell. Now the Lions suddenly look like their talented but listless old selves. Is this the real Caldwell, or is this just an aberration? He’ll need Matthew Stafford and Calvin “Megatron” Johnson to step up more than ever, particularly with the Seahawks having the home field come Monday night on the schedule.
