Taylor Swift dissed by Katy Perry in Super Bowl halftime show feud?

Taylor Swift is about to get publicly dissed by Katy Perry during the Super Bowl halftime show, deepening the feud between the two rival pop stars who were once viewed as friends. The two seem to be opposite sides of the same coin, with Swift casting herself as the good girl next door and Perry positioning herself as the good girl gone bad. But the two appear to be at odds with each other, and are now prone to taking it out on each other in public. But is this the place for such a thing?

The beef between the two likely stems from one of two incidents. One is the fact that they’ve each dated John Mayer at different times. The other is that as Taylor Swift began transitioning herself from a county-pop singer to a pop singer, she called on some of the same producers who had helped make Katy Perry a star. Whether they dislike each other because of a shared man or shared studio personnel, the two appear to now enjoy taking veiled shots at each other.

Super Bowl halftime show controversy is nothing new, from Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction to M.I.A. giving the middle finger on live television. Whatever Katy Perry has planned shouldn’t run afoul of network TV censors, but it may end up hurting Taylor Swift’s feelings – unless this ongoing “feud” is just two friends intentionally stirring up attention by pretending to publicly dislike each other.
