iPod touch 6th generation, iOS 8.4, Apple Music release date

Now that the WWDC Keynote has come and gone, Apple’s customers are left to figure out just when various products will hit the market and land in their hands. The iPod touch 6th generation remains incognito, but its launch timeframe has just become much more clear. The Apple Music app is in the wind, and the iOS 8.4 release date is also on the table. Here’s a look at when each of the above is likely to land and more:

iOS 8.4 release date: Apple just released the fourth beta test version of the mid-level system software update for iDevices, meaning its official public release is less than a month away, depending on whether another beta version will follow it first. The big news here is that the Apple Music app is included in 8.4 beta, meaning the music streaming service will go live as soon as the software update has been pushed out. Apple clearly isn’t interested in waiting until iOS 9 before launching its new Music service.

iPod touch 6th generation: Apple continued to remain silent on the next-gen product, meaning the current 5G model will remain on the market for at least a little while longer. It’s already nearly three years old, so when will the changeover finally happen? WWDC was Apple’s last big stage before its fall media event to launch the new iPhone along with iOS 9, so at this point it’s a safe bet that the iPod touch 6th generation won’t surface until that event in September.
