The Arizona Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers faced each other tonight in their final NFL preseason schedule football game, one of only two games to take place on the west coast this weekend. Philip Rivers is coming off a strong performance against the Niners, while Carson Palmer is coming off a bad game against the Bengals. But tonight’s game was all about the backups, and bad quarterbacking ruled the day on both sides. The final score features no touchdowns accordingly.
Logan Thomas took every snap for Arizona, and had a poor game going 9 for 21 with no touchdown scores and one interception for the Cardinals. But if San Diego was trying to figure out where to place Kellen Clemens and Brad Sorensen relative to each other on the depth chart, neither made much of an impression. In the end the game featured seven field goals and was mercifully saved from overtime by the winning field goal with two and a half minutes left.
The San Diego Chargers were the winner of tonight’s game over the Arizona Cardinals by a final score of 12-9, in a game both teams will be looking to forget. That may be difficult, however, as a quirk of the schedule has these same two teams opening the season against each other next Monday night, this time in Arizona.
