Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals dodge Suh, Pacman Jones suspensions

The Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals are breathing easy today now that the most notorious player on each of the two respective teams have managed to officially dodge suspensions after allegedly going after the heads of opposing players on the opening NFL weekend of 2015. Ndamukong Suh has a history of stepping on players after the play is over, and appeared to have done the same on Sunday, while Adam “Pacman” Jones appeared to slam another player’s head after the helmet came off.

But the NFL said today that neither player will be suspender for the incidents. Suh was playing in his first game for the Miami Dolphins after moving over from the Detroit Lions in the offseason in a big dollar free agent move, and the Fins are now counting on him to anchor their defensive line as they attempt to improve against the run. Suh looked inconsistent in his Miami debut but the defense did hold Washing to just ten points – and now they know they’ll have him on the field again next weekend.

Pacman Jones has a history off the field incidents but has tried to clean up his image of late with the Cincinnati Bengals. The incident in question involved an opposing player losing his helmet and then Jones seemingly grabbling the player’s head and banging it into the side of the helmet, which was lying on the ground. But Jones too has escaped serious punishment. It could be that the NFL isn’t looking to take star players off the field this early in the season, or that the league is now fearful that any controversial suspensions may be overruled by the courts in the wake of the Tom Brady ruling.
