Dallas Cowboys 2015 Super Bowl odds
The Dallas Cowboys made the playoffs for the first time in several years in 2014, and did some real damage before being taken down by a controversial rule which still has fans fuming. With some personnel shifts and newfound momentum, the question now must be asked if the Cowboys are true contenders heading in 2015, and what the odds are of Dallas wining the Super Bowl. Here’s a breakdown.
Coaching: The good news here is that head coach Jason Garrett can perform when under pressure, as the former golden boy knew he would have been fired last year if he didn’t lead the Dallas Cowboys into the playoffs. Perhaps more importantly, the shift in the defensive coaching staff stopped the bleeding and turned one of the league’s worst defenses into something that’s no longer a liability.
Quarterback: The knock on Tony Romo has long been that he couldn’t perform in the biggest spotlight, and he appeared to show otherwise during the Cowboys 2014 playoff run.
Running back: Here’s the big liability. Dallas had to led DeMarco Murray leave based on the sheer amount of money he was being offered by Philadelphia. But now the Cowboys are left trying to fill a gap which can’t be singularly filled by any one back on the roster. Rumors of an Adrian Peterson trade never materialized, and so now the team is headed into 2015 having taken an official step backward at running back talent level. However…
Offensive line: The popular argument from Dallas Cowboys fans is that the team’s offensive line is so talented, team owner Jerry Jones could line up and get a thousand yards rushing the ball behind this line. And to an extent they’re correct: this line will allow some journeyman running backs to look like stars.
Verdict: It’s difficult to argue that the Dallas Cowboys are built to go any further into the playoffs in 2015 than they were in 2014. But last season they were one controversial referee decision away from advancing to the NFC Championship Game. And if the Cowboys can get that far again based on talent and coaching, anything can happen from there. So we’re giving the Cowboys 5-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl this season.
