Miami Dolphins: fire coach Joe Philbin after latest disastrous loss

The Miami Dolphins have gotten destroyed by their AFC East division rival New York Jets today in an NFL London showpiece game in front of a national television audience. And that’s a problem for Miami and head coach Joe Philbin, because the Jets aren’t that good. After the fourth consecutive week in which the Dolphins have mailed it in and acted like they didn’t want to be there, it’s time for the team to fire Joe Philbin. Leave him behind in London if necessary.

Despite talent upgrades in the offseason, this result was inevitable. In fact I was at the game in Miami last December when the Dolphins defeated Cincinnati in a thriller. The crowd was walking out of that stadium in a jubilant manner until word began to spread that the team owner had just announced Joe Philbin would be back for another season. Suddenly the crowd became dejected, as if they were walking out of the stadium after a loss. Because they all knew what it meant: the 2015 season had just been forfeited for the sake of a head coach who has never at any point in his tenure looked like he was remotely qualified for the job.

And so it’s not a surprise that the Miami Dolphins are about to be 1-3 by the time they finish getting blown out in London today. This outcome was predetermined last December. The only silver lining for Fins fans is that the inevitable wasted season has gotten off to such a strikingly bad start that the team may well end up firing Joe Philbin this week. If so, the team may have a chance to do something in 2015 after all. But with the inept Philbin having had such a hard time finding any competent coordinators who wanted to be on his staff, will there be anyone left who could serve as interim coach for the rest of the season? Is Don Shula still in the building?

This four year experiment called The Joe Philbin era has got to end TODAY. The Miami Dolphins have gone from a mediocre 8-8 team to a terrible, uninspired NFL joke in 3+ years under Philbin. If Steven Ross is any kind of owner he will fire Philbin before the plane lands in Miami.

Bad ownership = incompetent front office & coach, with mediocre, overpaid talent on the field. Very sad

11 running plays?!! Am I seeing the stats right? 7 rushes by the top back!?

How isn’t this coaching? #firephilbin would be trending if anyone cared.

Good news for fins fans, hockey season starts Wednesday.

This team has no desire to win. Over paid professional that has no accountability or just simply be embarrassed to steal the owner the money. Joe Philbin think everything okay due to knowing that there will not any consequences for his job. Another losing season, this is just the norm for dolphins fans.
